Fighting fire with machine learning: two students use TensorFlow to predict wildfires

The project wildfire prediction has been carried by Brainpool.AI, an Artificial Intelligence services company powered by a global network of 500 AI and Machine Learning experts.

2. Beneficiaries

For this particual project, people who protect forect are the main beneficiaries. Moreover, we can say that forests itself beneficiates from this project. Other possible beneficiaries could be farmers or companies located next to a forest.

3. Users

Currently, the users of this project are American, Canadian and English companies which are fighting to protect forests in their region, farmers and companies located next to a forest.

4. Need

The objective of this project is to decrease the damage done on forest

5. Principle

Thanks to this project, the company can predict the movement and spread of dangerous events such as fire, evaluate high-risk regions and help guide controlled cut and burn-back to prevent progression of fire.

6. Main technologies involved

The main technology used is machine learning. Indeed, ML can handle numerous parameters whether it can be latitude, longitude, satellite, version, etc, create a multi-relationship of a parameter, and can determine which one is responsible for the fire in the forest.
