Clean Water AI is a project created by Peter Ma, founder of cleanwaterai.com.
The main beneficiaries of this projects are fish and human-beings. Indeed, some sources of water are used as drinking water. It is important to make sure that the source is clean. For fish, it could help understand the cause of their death.
The users of this project are companies that care about water safety as well as association, utilities and municipalities that want to test a source of water for specific usage.
A recent UN report on global clean water and sanitation suggests that over 40% of the world population still doesn’t have access to safely managed drinking water. The report also reveals that more than half of the world population (4.5 billion) doesn’t have access to a safe sanitation system. It also indicates that almost 2 billion people are using water sources contaminated with sewage.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to help resolve challenges related to clean water and sanitation. It is helping utilities and municipalities or industries to better manage their water and wastewater systems to ensure a clean and sanitized water supply.
This project uses deep learning neural network to detect dangerous bacteria and harmful particles in water. To do so, Peter Ma uses a microscope camera to measure water safety. The Artificial Intelligence detects water contamination, updates the map and give users information about water safety in real time.
